The Sycamore Institute recently welcomed Sarah Henderson to our full-time staff as a senior policy analyst. We asked Sarah to answer a few questions below so you can get to know her better.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am originally from Augusta, Georgia and have lived all over the southeast for the past several years. I started working in Nashville in 2018 after completing a master’s degree in public health at Emory University in Atlanta. As an East Nashville resident, I am enjoying all of the parks and restaurants within walking distance!
Why did you want to work at the Sycamore Institute?
After several years in the research space, I have seen how important it is to communicate your findings effectively. I am passionate about conducting policy research on topics that are relevant to people and writing about the findings in a way that can be understood by everyone. Sycamore combines the research + communication piece of public policy work so beautifully, and I am excited to contribute to that mission.
Where do you want to be in 15 years?
In 15 years, I hope I am still working with community leaders and policymakers to use research to improve the lives of people in my local community and state. I want people to feel more informed by my work and empowered to be involved in the policy-making process.
What are your interests and activities outside of work?
I love hiking around Nashville, making new friends in my neighborhood, and training my extremely mischievous puppy.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I can sing the alphabet backwards, and I’m a huge fan of Formula One racing!
