The Sycamore Institute is excited to host three excellent interns this summer. We’ve already introduced Ean and Grey, so today we’ve asked Fiona to share a little bit about herself.
Name: Fiona Wu
School: Vanderbilt University
Major: Medicine Health & Society, Neuroscience
Hometown: Taipei, Taiwan
Why did you want to intern at the Sycamore Institute?
I am passionate about mental health policies and have been involved in advocacy with organizations like NAMI and Mental Health America in Tennessee. During my studies and volunteering, I sometimes read the Sycamore Institute’s health policy reports as an objective yet extremely informative source, and therefore was excited to know that I could contribute to it through this internship!
Where do you want to be in 15 years?
My current plan is to pursue a Master of Public Health. In 15 years, I’d like to be a leader in mental health advocacy, whether it be in nonprofit, policy, or research. I also want a dog and a kitten.
What are your interests and activities outside of school?
I spend too much time on Youtube, but I also enjoy cooking, traveling, writing short stories, and exploring cute restaurants and coffee shops! Please recommend good Nashville eats.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I am a Chinese calligraphy artist with 10+ years of experience!
